(& Seasonal Food)
Being that I like to keep life on its toes, plus new challenges stop you stagnating in life, I thought it would be a good idea to only eat foraged food for the month of March, with seasonal UK produce as a backup for the extra calories.
All to test my skills as a hunter-gatherer.
So of course I had to set myself some rules to adhere to, whilst I mainly ate Fin, Feather, Fur and Forage.
Rules:
No alcohol, no sugar, no chilli, two cups of Yorkshire tea per day (need some morale after all), foraged, seasonal and, ideally, local food only.
Acceptable stored foods include onions, potatoes, grains, seeds, nuts & honey.
Apart from the photo of my larder, below, in my freezer I had homemade rabbit casserole and venison stew, half a Roe doe, rabbit broth, huge bag of venison and rabbit bones. I placed an order for a whole Chinese Water Deer from Martin and Sue Hall and Jake Elston of www.cottagefarm-sandy.com
I also had 5kg of local potatoes.
