Day 1 and its -1 with freezing rain and 30mph gusts. Clearly Gaia has a sense of humour.
I go downstairs to make one of only two of the cups of black tea that, I will allow myself each morning for the next month. Won’t be foraging in that weather. So, I get back under the covers and snuggle down for a cheeky half an hour until the wife turns the lights on.
Still saturated from the dog walk I gather parsley, chives, marjoram, and spring onions from the small holding. Spring greens to go with the 5th quarter of a rabbit.

Breakfast. All grown, made, harvested or foraged by my own hand. Admittedly we did buy in the wholemeal flour. With a cup of our own dried mint as a herbal tea.

Next loaf we are baking with wild grain.

Still pouring down. Thankfully I prepared for this last week by producing rabbit broth, venison stew and a rabbit casserole. My wife kindly made me a huge batch of medieval oat cakes.
